Great start of the very first European Robotics Week

On November 28, 2011, more than 130 robotics organisations kick-started
Europe's very first Robotics Week. Over 350 robotics related activities
in 19 European countries are offered only for the benefit of the general
public, highlighting and promoting the growing importance of European
robotics in a wide variety of application areas. The week’s aim is also
to inspire students of all ages while building their interest in
technology and innovation.

This is a real opportunity for the public to see this fascinating and
promising area of technology that is often mis-represented or
under-represented in the media.

Henrik Schunk, Managing Partner of Schunk GmbH and Chairman of EUnited Robotics, welcomed this opportunity by his company volunteering to organize robot competitions for high school students as soon as the idea of a European Robotics Week started circulating back in March 2011.  "Robotics offers enormous potentials to professional newcomers and society as a whole. In the near future, robots will become an
integral part of our lives. It’s similar to the computer business some decades ago: no one ever imagined what important role PCs would play in today’s life. The same will happen with robots”, stated Henrik Schunk.
