Is the HiTop version delivered with the
development board (NXHX50) locked to the hardware, or is it possibly to
use this version with own target and external JTAG debugger ?

Hi KBB,
the delivered HiTOP version which comes with the NXHX boards is bundled (looked) only to the NXHX boards.
Means you can only use this HiTOP version together with any NXHX board.
For your own design with JTAG interface you need an external JTAG debugger like the Tantino from Hitex.
The good thing is that the HiTOP IDE will have the same look and feel.
